Lead researcher: Prof. Frances Stewart

Frances is the Director of the Centre for Research on Inequality, Human Security and Ethnicity at the University of Oxford. She is a Development Economist, and her main interests are: sources and consequences of conflict in poor countries; human development; poverty; group behaviour.

Frances is leader of the Work Package, 'Group Formation, Identities and Mobilisation'.

Lead researcher: Prof. Roger Zetter

Roger is Director of the Refugee Studies Centre at the University of Oxford. His main areas of interest are: the institutional and policy dimensions of forced migration, the impact of humanitarian assistance on refugees and asylum seekers, shelter and settlement policies for refugees, the experience of protracted exile, repatriation and post-conflict reconstruction.

His areas of geographical specialisation include Sub-Saharan Africa, Cyprus and the UK.

Roger is leader of the Work Package, ' Migration, Displacement and Refugees'.

Researcher: Dr. Yvan Guichaoua

Yvan is Research Officer in Economics at the Centre for Research on Inequality, Human Security and Ethnicity. His main research interests are ethnic militias, household economics, the microeconomics of development and inequality.

His main area of geographical specialisation is West Africa, (including Nigeria and the Côte d'Ivoire) and the Sahel region (especially Niger).

Nick is the Director of the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society. His main research interests are forced migration, development and related issues.

He has extensive experience in Africa, the Middle East, Europe and South Asia.

Anna was working for MICROCON as a Research Officer at the Refugee Studies Centre. Anna's research interests focus on the links between migration, conflict and development.

Her main geographical areas of interest are Somalia, Kenya and the UK.

She has now completed her work for MICROCON and is based at the School of Oriental and African Studies.

Susan is a Research Officer at the Refugee Studies Centre. Her research interests are in defining refugees, what is needed from protection, the links between primary and secondary stages of movements, refugee interests in exile, and wider vulnerability within refugee-sending areas.

Her geographical areas of interest are Somalia, Afghanistan and the UK.
